Surfing in Southern California

Miles of easily accessible beaches and a wide variety of surf conditions combine to make Southern California a true surfer's paradise. There are beaches with quiet swells that are suitable for novices, and beaches where surfing's masters ride huge, Maverick-style waves.  Southern California has produced many world famous surfers such as Jack Haley, Jericho Poppler and Baywatch's Kelly Slater.

Most of the beaches are well served by restaurants, bars, clothing and surf shops.  Golf, horseback riding and many other outdoor activities are generally located nearby.

With the right instruction, surfing is safe and is very easy to learn.
