What is the agenda for the activity? What can participants expect?
After checking-in, your racing experience begins with a 35 minute driver education instruction covering performance car racing, track conditions and etiquette, and the physics and jargon of racing (turning radius, apexes, G-loading, etc). Then after suiting up and the equipment check is performed, you’ll pile in a van with other racers and do a two-lap drive through on the track. During the drive-through your instructor will point out markers, explain the idiosyncrasies of the track, and teach you tips on how to safety negotiate turns. After the drive through you’ll strap on your helmet and get situated in the cockpit of your car. Allow for 2- to 3-hours for the racing experiences.
Note: you do not need to know how to drive a stick-shift, these cars have a single speed gearbox, which makes them easy for anyone to drive.
With the Ride-Along, experience a professional qualifying run as a passenger, reaching speeds of up 180 mph with a racing instructor in a specially designed two-seat open wheel race car. In the Qualifier Racing experience, you ride alone in the cockpit breaking, shifting, and punching the throttle for 8 heart-pounding, white-knuckle minutes (approx. 6-laps) around the track at speeds of up to 150mph. The Checkered Flag Racing experience is similar to Qualifier Racing, except participants race for two driving sessions (a total of 18-minutes). As in professional racing, after the first driving session, you’ll pull into the pit where your instructor will provide feedback on your driving and your car is quickly checked. Then you’ll head back on the race track for session two. Expect to reach speeds of up to 150mph. The Enthusiast Racing experience is recommended for the serious fan. You’ll hit the speedway in four driving sessions, a total of 32-minutes! Your racing performance and speed will improve with each session with top speeds reaching up to a breathtaking 150mph.
What should the participants bring or wear? Is all equipment included?
All equipment including jumpsuit and helmet will be provided, however, participants should wear athletic shoes (absolutely no sandles or high-heels!) and full-finger gloves are recommended. Included in the price listed is a racing license, which covers all vehicle liability insurance, and ear buds for use with the car radio system (the buds are yours to keep and are compatible with your iPod, computer, or any other mini-jack supported device). For an additional cost, pariticipants can purchase a photo package of their racing experience which will also include a logo T-shirt and cap.
How long should the participants allow for the activity from start to finish?
Please allow up to 3 hours for the 8- to 16-minute racing experiences for check-in, driver education, equipment check and track time wait. The Enthusiast Racing experience will take approximately 6-hours to complete.
