What is the agenda for the activity? What can participants expect? Before your river trip, a professional river guide will provide you with a trip overview, safety instruction, paddling gear and a briefing on paddle talk. A licensed river guide will be on every raft. Rafts are light, maneuverable and easy to paddle. Expect to get wet! Note that the whitewater on the Kern river is rated on a scale of difficulty from 1-6, where Class 2 is Easy, Class 3 is Moderate, Class 4 is Difficult and Class 5 is More Difficult. Lickety-Blaster is a Class 2-3 run, whereas Upper and Lower Kern trips are punctuated with Class 3 and 4 rapids.
What should the participants bring or wear? Is all equipment included? All necessary rafting equipment is included. Participants should bring a bathing suit or shorts, old sneakers or sandals, sunscreen, towel, and a change of clothes and shoes for after the trip. Always bring medications which you may need on any trip (i.e. asthma inhaler, bee sting kit, etc.). How long should the participants allow for the activity from start to finish? The duration of the rafting trips depend on the package selected. Lickety-Blaster involves two separate runs with the first run lasting approximately one hour and the second about 1.5 hours. The Upper Kern rafting is a half-day experience lasting approximately four hours; the Lower Kern is a full day rafting experience that lasts approximately six hours. There are breaks for lunch.
