What is the agenda for the activity? What can participants expect? Your instruction starts on the beach with a five minute introduction to board types, surfing lingo/etiquette, and surfboard maintenance. Before hitting the water, you’ll spend 5 to 10 minutes learning the best board positioning for you and proper stance, how to paddle, and how to safely fall. The real training begins in the shallow waters of the beach where you’ll learn how duckdive through oncoming waves, and how to stand up and stay upright on your board. Then when you’re ready, your instructor will lead you into deeper waters where you’ll practice executing turns and maneuvers and begin to develop those performance surfing techniques you’ve seen in the movies! Types of waves and how the tide affects waves will also be covered in the course. Expect to spend the vast majority of each lesson in the water.
Our Surfing Lessons have a low student to instructor ratio, generally 4-to-1, to ensure proper supervision and personalized training. Each student receives individual attention in a safe and fun environment. Our instructors, whose work you’ve seen in Blue Crush, Baywatch The Movie, and Extreme Blue, will make sure that you have a great time learning to surf!
Note: All of our Surfing Lesson instructors are trained lifeguards, certified in CPR and first aid ,and are highly familiar with the coastal beaches of southern California.
