What is  the agenda for the activity?  What can participants expect?
Your Land-yachting experience includes van pick-up and drop-off from any Las Vegas Strip hotel.  Pick-ups are generally scheduled around 9:00AM.  Once all participants are onboard, there will be a 30-minute drive to the staging area.

At the staging area, and once all paperwork is complete, participants will be provided a brief orientation on the class 3 land-yacht.  Land-sailing instruction will include how to set sail and harnessing the wind for motion, tacking, and stopping your land-yacht.  After the initial instruction, participants are allowed to explore the terrain and practice what they’ve learned in self-directed exercises.  At the end of the day, mini-regatta-style racing competitions will take place with minor prizes provided to overall winners.

Total driving/sailing time is approximately 4 hours with participants being dropped off at their hotels around 5:00PM.  Lunch will be provided around noon and water and juice will be on hand throughout the day.  Free pictures of the land-yachting session will be distributed to the participants via email.

Note:  a limited number of two-seater land-yachts are available upon request.

What should the participants bring or wear?  Is all equipment included?
All equipment will be provided, however, participants should dress in comfortable clothing that you wont mind getting dirty.  Long sleeved t-shirt is recommended to help protect from the sun.  Also, participants should wear athletic shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a brimmed hat.  Remember to bring medications which you may need on any trip (i.e. asthma inhaler, bee sting kit, etc.).  A light snack will be provided as well as water and juice.  Don’t forget your camera!

How long should the participants allow for the activity from start to finish?
Your land-yachting experience will begin at approximately 9:00AM with a van pick-up from your Las Vegas hotel.  You can expect to be returned to your hotel around 5:00PM.

When and Where does the activity take place?
Your land-yachting experience will take place on a dry lakebed where there is plenty of room to roam just a 30-minute drive from downtown Las Vegas.  Land-yachting is a seasonal sport in Nevada with this experience being offered every year from March through mid-July and again from September through November – times when the temperature in Nevada are most agreeable.
 
Are there any restrictions (age, weight, health, etc.)?
Participants must be at least 12 years of age with those younger than 18 years accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  The minimum height is 3’8” and those weighing less than 120 lbs. will be paired with another rider in a two-seater land-yacht (drivers can alternate).  Maximum height is 6’4” and maximum weight is 300 lbs., and all participants must be height/weight proportionate.  Wheelchair bound clients may participate in this experience so long as they have the use of their arms.

Can spectators be accommodated?
This is a participatory event although guests of participants might be accommodated if there is seating capacity in the shuttle van.  However, it is highly recommended that guests of participants drive their own vehicle to the staging area.  The staging area is outdoors with little shade or protection from the sun.  As such spectators might become quite uncomfortable during a long day.

Can minors participate?
Yes, but participants must be at least 12 years of age with those younger than 18 years accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  The minimum height is 3’8” and those weighing less than 120 lbs. will be paired with another rider in a two-seater land-yacht (drivers can alternate). 

Can persons with disabilities be accommodated?
Persons with certain physical limitations may not be able to participate in this experience.  However, in certain cases accommodations can be made.  Please call our Customer Care representatives and inform them of any limitations prior to booking.  As a general rule, wheelchair bound clients may participate in this experience so long as they have the use of their arms.

Can large groups or corporate events be accommodated?
Large outdoor adventure groups and corporate events can be accommodated and are welcome.  However, only 10 riding and driving participants can be accommodated at one time, with others awaiting their turn at the staging area.

Are there any availability or timing restrictions?
